Paint Party: "Skully" + Hot Pink Tiger Diva

*Click the images for a larger view

Hello Kittens and Happy Paint Party Friday! There's been a whole lotta paintificating going on at HerSpeak HQ. Let's get to the goods! I've made a bit of progress on "Skully"--but not as much as I'd hoped. The amount of white I used in this piece mixed with the super high humidity means it's taking eons to dry. (For those of you who aren't familiar with oil paints, they can take weeks to dry, making layering difficult.)

I am a bit stuck on this piece--do I add a second layer of pattern in the foreground? Go gonzo with the head dress? What do you think? Help me brainstorm!

I also began working back into a piece I abandoned a while back. It began as an in-class one-session painting and was never developed fully. Now it's back with a vengeance! Working out proportional problems, adding color, fine tuning feathers and bringing in some bones! (You can see the beginnings of a cat skull on the bottom right.) I'm dying to work on that hot pink tiger...

Can't wait to see all of your creations! Keep kickin' em out!

I am intrigued at the idea of a pattern in the foreground on SKULLY. Would it be translucent patterns? You are going a creative path with BOTH works. Unique! HAPPY PPF!

Oh yeah, more patterning in the foreground, and why not go nuts with the headdress?

Love the second one too.

I used to work in oils exclusively, so I know what you mean about the drying time. Your work is very cool. Love the woman with the skull. Very provocative! Thanks for your comment on my blog. Have a great week! :-)

Skully's palette is wonderful... I say trust your instincts! (I look forward to seeing what you decide!)

This is pretty awesome! That's why I stick to acrylics cause they dry faster. :) But I think you're right about the layering. :)

I rather like the amount of feathers as is right now. I am intrigued by her almost bloody looking fingers which I'm assuming is from the paint on her forehead... almost vampiric ;)

I love your style! Great paintings, both of them.

UGGGH, It's almost Friday again & I JUST got here LOL... loving the detail n these works, apparently there's some oil paints that you dry with a hairdryer, so they stay wet & then wham bamm, may be good for your layering techniques... not sure could be Atelier Interactive oils?? Never used them, but read about them in a magazine... OK better go, hope to see you in a day or so for the next PPF ;)
